PRESS RELEASE FROM ALISTAIR STRATHERN MP
FRIDAY 5th DECEMBER
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Alistair Strathern MP paid tribute to the incredible work of the Stotfold Good Neighbours Group (SGNG) in Parliament, celebrating their remarkable achievement of completing over 15,000 acts of community support and receiving the King’s Award for Voluntary Service – the highest honour for volunteer groups in the UK.
For years, SGNG volunteers have been the backbone of Stotfold’s community, offering help with everything from hospital visits and shopping trips to befriending those who might otherwise feel isolated. These small acts of kindness have created thousands of meaningful connections.
The Leader of the Commons joined in the congratulations, recognising the group’s outstanding contribution to improving lives and fostering social connection.
Alistair Strathern MP said:
“It’s impossible not to be struck by the impact SGNG has had on so many people. Their dedication and compassion are an inspiration, and this award is the least they deserve.
“I’ll always champion the vital work of local voluntary groups like SGNG – they are the heart of our community.”
“Volunteers like these remind us that community is built on care and kindness. I’m proud to see their efforts recognised nationally, and I look forward to continuing to support them and other groups who make such a difference.”
