A brand‑new, state‑of‑the‑art Audiology Hub has officially been opened at Lister Hospital, marking a major step forward in improving hearing services for patients across the area.

The facility, backed by over £1 million of Government investment, will significantly expand local capacity and bring world‑class audiology technology to the Lister.

Alistair Strathern, Member of Parliament for Hitchin, attended the opening and welcomed the transformation the new hub represents. He said:

“Local NHS audiology services haven’t always been good enough, and there’s no getting away from that. But we are determined to put things right. This new Audiology Hub at Lister Hospital is a huge leap forward and a clear sign of that commitment.

“With more space, more modern equipment, and cutting‑edge technology, the team here will be able to see more patients, reduce waiting times, and deliver the high‑quality care people deserve.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the powerful impact these facilities will have for patients with audiology needs across our community.”

The upgraded service will support adults and children with hearing assessments, hearing aid fittings, balance testing, and ongoing specialist care. The soft color palette and attention to design will particularly appeal to children with Special Educational Needs and enhance access to specialist training for audiologists.
