PRESS RELEASE FROM ALISTAIR STRATHERN MP
FRIDAY 9th MAY 2025
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Alistair Strathern, MP for the Hitchin constituency, celebrated the 80th VE Day by taking part in events across his constituency.
After meeting Hitchin RBL veterans and volunteers last weekend, Strathern attended celebrations in Clifton, Ickleford and Stotfold.
He met volunteers, members of the public, cadets and veterans. Event highlights included beacons being lit, displays of local soldiers’ stories from World War Two, and musical performances.
You can see several pictures from the events Strathern visited, attached.
VE Day marks the anniversary of victory in the European theatre for the allies in World War Two, and the continent’s liberation from tyranny and totalitarianism.
Alistair Strathern MP said:
“Celebrations like the ones I joined in Clifton, Ickleford and Stotfold represent our communities at our very best.
“With multiple local military bases and a long military history, I am proud of how well we mark the service and sacrifice of our armed forces in Beds and Herts, and it is an honour to represent this area.
“I want to offer a big thank you to everyone who put on these great events across our constituency.”
