PRESS RELEASE FROM ALISTAIR STRATHERN MP
MONDAY 2nd JUNE 2025
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Alistair Strathern, the MP for Hitchin, visited Hitchin’s Carer Café recently to meet with its staff, volunteers and users.
Set up by the local NHS, it’s a fantastic chance for local carers to meet up each week.
It runs every Friday from 10-12.
The cafe is a project run by HWPCN Hitchin & Whitwell Primary Care Network, together with volunteers from the Rotary Club of Hitchin Tilehouse.
Donations can be given to the public via the rotary club, to continue to fund the carers café. Money can be given via this link.
Alistair Strathern MP said:
“It was wonderful to visit Hitchin’s own Carer Café and meet the many brilliant, hard-working carers who come here every week.
“The care community, from professional to volunteer to family, are an invaluable part of society. Their hard work is so vital for the most vulnerable people in our towns and villages.
“This Café is a fantastic way for carers to meet and relax in a safe space, and speaking to them it’s clear it’s had a transformational impact for many.
“It’s important we continue to support them as a community, and I’ll be pushing the NHS to expand the model so more carers can benefit from this across the region.’
