Alistair Strathern MP has joined his local credit union, Black Squirrel Credit Union.

Alistair Strathern, MP for Mid Bedfordshire, has joined his local credit union, Black Squirrel Credit Union. 

Credit Unions are financial co-operatives which people join to save money safely and borrow money affordably. Black Squirrel Credit Union is run by part time staff most and volunteers, serving mainly people in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. 

Alistair Strathern MP said:

"I know from my time at the Bank of England how important Credit Unions are in serving their local communities, and it was fantastic to chat over the range of initiatives Black Squirrel are involved in locally.

"In this cost of living crisis, local credit unions like Black Squirrel are so important. I was pleased to hear about their initiatives to help families in our area, and get some money back as well." 

President of Black Squirrel Credit Union, Martin Stears-Handscomb said:

"Members of the Board of Black Squirrel Credit Union were pleased to welcome Alistair to our office today and to enrol him as a member.  We were encouraged by his knowledge of and support for Credit Unions. We look forward to working with him."
